Sophie Jaques: Getting to Know The Player

Sophie Jaques was PWHL Vancouver’s, now Vancouver Goldeneyes, second signing during the exclusive signing window of the 2025 PWHL Expansion Draft. She is the Goldeneyes second player in franchise history and second defender in franchise history.

The Goldeneyes are the third PWHL team Jaques has played on. Originally drafted by PWHL Boston, now the Boston Fleet, she was traded to PWHL Minnesota, now the Minnesota Frost, during the PWHL’s inaugural season. This trade was the first one in PWHL history.

Being part of three different PWHL teams and having played on both of the Frost’s Walter Cup winning teams, gives Jaques diverse experience and a knowledge of what it takes to win, making her a great addition to the Goldeneyes ahead of their inaugural season.

Fun Fact

During their time in Minnesota, and now both a part of the Goldeneyes, Jaques and Claire Thompson, were roommates.

Under contract with the Goldeneyes for three years, Jaques will be a reliable leader for the Goldeneyes, helping build the franchise in their early years. Having already proven herself a strong player in the PWHL, she will continue to grow, aiming to make her first Olympics and help the Goldeneyes be successful in their first year as a team.
