On Jan. 9, Hockey Canada announced the full roster for the women’s team that will represent Team Canada at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics Games.
Five of the Vancouver Goldeneyes players made the 23 player squad. Players going are: forwards Jenn Gardiner and Sarah Nurse, defenders Sophie Jaques and Claire Thompson, and goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer.
Jenn Gardiner
Milano Cortina will be Gardiner’s first Olympic Games.
She was a part of Canada’s roster for the 2025-26 Rivalry Series against the United States. In four games, she got one point with an assist.
With five points, she sits in a four-way tie for third in points, first amongst forwards on the Goldeneyes.
Sarah Nurse
Milano Cortina will be Nurse’s third Olympic Games.
She previously represented Canada in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games and PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games, winning Gold and Silver respectively. She was the first Black Woman to win Olympic hockey gold.
So far this season, Nurse has only played one game for the Goldeneyes due to injury. She played in the season opener, scoring their first goal in franchise history.
Sophie Jaques
Milano Cortina will be Jaques’ first Olympic Games.
She was part of Canada’s roster for the 2025-26 Rivalry Series. In four games, she scored twice for two points.
She sits second in points on the Goldeneyes at six.
Claire Thompson
Milano Cortina will be Thompson’s second Olympic Games.
She previously represented Team Canada in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. With 13 points (2 goals, 11 assists), she led all defence in points and set a new record for points by a defenseman in a single tournament.
She was part of Canada’s roster for the 2025-26 Rivalry Series. She got one assist in four games.
She leads all Goldeneyes in points at eight.
Emerance Maschmeyer
Milano Cortina will be Maschmeyer’s second Olympic Games.
She was part of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games roster, winning both games she played. One in the group stage and one in the quarterfinal game.
She was part of Canada’s roster for the 2025-26 Rivalry Series. She played 30 minutes, allowing 5 goals on 12 shots for a save percentage of 0.583.
She has played eight games for the Goldeneyes and has a record of three wins, four losses, and one overtime loss. She has a save percentage of 0.916.
Women’s Olympic hockey plays from Feb. 5-19. Five Goldeneyes players will be there working to bring home the Gold.
