Vancouver Rise FC hire Anja Heiner-Møller as first-ever head coach

Vancouver Rise FC completed their first signing today, and it was a big one. Former Danish national team player Anja Heiner-Møller was introduced as the club’s first-ever head coach.

Heiner-Møller, 46, was recently the head coach with the Danish U-19 national women’s team where she spent two years.

Previously, she was an assistant coach with the Danish U-16 national team, and head coach for various Danish clubs including Ballerup-Skovlunde Fodbold, the FC Nordsjælland U-18 women’s team and the Brøndby IF U-18 women’s team.

Not a stranger to Vancouver, Heiner-Møller also spent three years working as an academy coach with Vancouver Whitecaps FC and North Shore Girls Soccer club between 2018 and 2020.

“I am overly excited to take on this role as head coach of Vancouver Rise FC,” said Heiner-Møller in a press release. “This is not just any city, team, or club to me. Vancouver is the place where girls and women’s soccer blew me away from the very first time I got to know it. The Northern Super League will give a platform for this fantastic game to grow and to be even bigger and better. This opportunity to coach Vancouver Rise FC means a lot to me, and I cannot wait to get started.”

In her playing career, the former midfielder represented Denmark in 44 national team games. Her club football spanned over 250 games and was split between Danish clubs Brondby IF, Odense Boldklub and Hillerod G & I.
